Lemieux to have NHL Player Safety hearing for actions in Kings game

Brendan Lemieux will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on a date yet to be determined.

The Los Angeles Kings forward is facing discipline for biting Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk.

Lemieux has been offered an in-person hearing, which is required for any suspension that could be at least six games. He would be suspended until the hearing takes place.

The incident occurred with 6:06 remaining in the third period of the Kings’ 4-2 win at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday. Lemieux was given two minor penalties for roughing and a match penalty.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: biting. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
